Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy with Cohort Quality Confirmation & Gamete Source Confirmation

  • Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy

Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy, or PGT-A, is used to determine the number of chromosomes present in an embryo. When an embryo is formed, we expect it to have 46 total chromosomes, 23 from the egg and 23 from the sperm. Any embryos with extra or missing chromosomes are considered abnormal (aneuploid) and not recommended for transfer. PGT-A is able to determine which embryos have the correct number of chromosomes and have the best chance to implant and lead to a healthy pregnancy and outcome.

  • PGT-A Cohort Quality Confirmation & Gamete Source Confirmation

PGT-A Link™ brings enhanced testing to the market that can help improve a patient's chance of a successful pregnancy. The service also confirms that embryos are genetically related to one another, reassuring patients that their embryos underwent testing without error.

PGT-A LinkPlus™ takes it a step further by adding gamete source confirmation. This feature ensures that the expected sources were used, providing you with even greater confidence in the accuracy and reliability of the results.

  • PGT-A provides valuable information to help decide which embryo to transfer.

Typically, embryos are transferred based on how they look, grow, and develop. Unfortunately, we know that these factors do not indicate how many chromosomes are present. Transferring an abnormal embryo may lead to undesired outcomes such as a failed embryo implantation, miscarriage, or the birth of a child with a chromosomal abnormality. By screening the embryo(s) for chromosomal abnormalities using PGT-A, you and your physician can make critical well-informed decisions prior to embryo transfer, and give you the best chance for success.

  • PGT-A can help those patients who:

    • Are age 35 or older (advanced maternal age)

    • Have had a previous aneuploid pregnancy

    • Want to optimize which embryo is transferred from those they have available

    • Have experienced repeated IVF failures

    • Are at risk for sex-linked disorders

    • When one or both partners carry a balanced translocation or chromosome rearrangement

Enhanced testing

Providing greater confidence in the accuracy and reliability of results

PGT-A Link utilizes single nucleotide polymorphism next generation sequencing (SNP-NGS) to provide PGT-A results as well as additional information that can confirm that the embryos are genetically related to each other. PGT-A Link™ also addresses haploidy, most triploidies, and external DNA contamination.
